Customily

Background
Customily had been developed gradually without following a clear UI design system. As new features were added, interface elements were placed wherever they fit best at the moment. Over time, this led to an inconsistent and unintuitive product experience.
Core problem
From the first interaction with Customily’s Design Studio, it was evident that users felt uncomfortable with the interface. This was confirmed through interviews and surveys, where many users—mostly designers—mentioned that the interface felt unfamiliar and had a steep learning curve. The Design Studio’s layout and structure differed from other design tools they were accustomed to, resulting in frustration and low adoption.
The solution
To address this issue, I worked on a complete redesign of the Design Studio aimed at reducing user friction and aligning it with familiar design patterns. I conducted extensive research on popular design tools such as Figma, Canva, Kittl, and Adobe’s suite products to understand how their interfaces were organized. This analysis allowed me to map Customily’s core features to well-known interaction patterns, resulting in a more intuitive and recognizable experience for users.
Results and Impact
Usability testing of the new interface showed highly positive results: 97% of users reported satisfaction with the new design and expressed enthusiasm to use it in production. Unfortunately, due to budget and staffing constraints, the redesign project was never fully implemented. The company decided instead to gradually improve the existing interface over time, but this rarely happened.
