Background
Tips Salud is a company dedicated to developing health software used by clinics, hospitals, and healthcare professionals. As their product offering grew in complexity—ranging from patient record systems to appointment scheduling and medical dashboards—the need for design consistency became critical. The absence of a unified visual language led to fragmented experiences across platforms, increasing the cognitive load for users in high-pressure environments. To support scalability, usability, and regulatory standards, we set out to create a Design System tailored to the healthcare context.
Core problem
The lack of a centralized design system resulted in visual inconsistencies, duplicated components, and inefficiencies in the product development cycle. For healthcare professionals using the software, this inconsistency translated into friction during critical tasks—where every second counts. Designers and developers worked in silos, without shared standards, which made collaboration harder and introduced risks in both user experience and product quality.
The solution
We developed a robust Design System hosted in Zeroheight, focusing on creating a consistent, accessible, and scalable foundation for all products at Tips Salud. I collaborated with designers, developers, and stakeholders to define visual guidelines, UI components, interaction patterns, and usage principles—always considering the unique needs of medical environments (such as high readability, clarity under pressure, and accessibility). The documentation includes real use cases, code references, and decision rationale to ensure adoption and long-term sustainability.
Results and Impact
The Design System helped Tips Salud dramatically reduce design-debt and streamline cross-team collaboration. New features are now shipped faster and with greater consistency, reducing development time and QA issues. Most importantly, it improved the overall usability and reliability of the health software used by medical professionals—supporting better outcomes for both users and patients. It also shortened onboarding time for new designers and developers, establishing a shared language across the organization.
